Dried Distillers Grains

Dried Distillers’ Grain (DDG) is a plant-based, high protein livestock feed supplement, suitable for ruminants, pigs, poultry and horses. It is produced as a co-product from ethanol production from grain.

Ethanol production from grain involves the conversion of starch to alcohol (ethanol) through fermentation.DDG is a course, dark-coloured granular powder made from the condensing and drying of protein stillage to approx 10% moisture content.

The nutrient composition of DDG depends on the type, variety and quality of the grain used. Stance DDG is derived from Australian wheat.

Key Benefits

  • Excellent source of Bypass protein,
  • Good palatability,
  • Ideal supplement to low quality forage pastures,
  • Long storage life,
  • Easy to handle, flows easily in silos,
  • Can be used in Urea, Molasses mixes.

DDG has been used as a protein supplement for many years in Southern Australia, USA and Canada. With the shortage of palatable protein meals in Northern Australia, DDG is viable and available alternative to traditional meals.
